CHINA, CIRCA 1800
Temple set
In cloisonné enamels, comprising five items including a tripod covered incense burner, a pair of candlesticks and a pair of baluster vases, all richly decorated in polychrome cloisonné enamels with lotus flowers in full bloom and foliage scrolls on a turquoise background.
The incense burner rests on three feet decorated with stylised lion heads, flanked by two vertical handles and topped with an openwork lid topped with a Buddhist lion.
The candlesticks have a baluster shaft resting on a flared base and decorated with Greek friezes and floral motifs.
The baluster-shaped vases with long flared necks display a continuous decoration of lotuses and auspicious emblems, the borders highlighted with gilded geometric friezes.
