TIBET, 19th CENTURY Thangka Depicting Vaisravana, the God of Wealth, in tempera on cotton, seated in majesty on a lotiform throne, surrounded by a flaming mandorla, holding characteristic attributes and accompanied by secondary figures mounted on horseback within a stylised landscape. Attached to a silk brocade support. Dimensions: 62 x 41.5 cm Size of stand : 123 x 73 cm Vaisravana, king of the Yakshas and one of the Four Heavenly Kings (Lokapala), is venerated in Tibetan Buddhism as a powerful protective deity and guardian of the world's treasures.
