Description
A pair of curved, flared console tables in moulded, carved and gilded lime wood. The ornate moulding features, on the front, a large openwork cartouche adorned with a female mask, set within a foliage border of acanthus leaves. The four curved legs are embellished with masks of bearded old men and palm leaves, and rest on goat’s-hoof feet. They are joined by an X-shaped brace, centred on a large asymmetrical shell, enhanced with rocaille and floral motifs. Top in veined red marble, moulded with a corbin.
Northern Italy. Marche region. Brochette period. Circa 1745.
