Our painting is a version by Jean-Charles Thévenin of the work produced in 1635 by Antoon van Dyck for Charles I. This painting depicts the sons of Charles I of England. The original is held at the Sabauda Gallery in Turin. Jean-Charles Thévenin was the son of Charles Thévenin (1764–1838), winner of the Prix de Rome in 1791. His paintings are particularly rare.
