An exceptional, large and very fine ISFAHAN RUG, Iran
Circa 1975.
Dimensions: H_330 L_205 cm
High-quality silky lamb’s wool pile known as ‘Kork’, with floral motifs surrounded by silk on a silk ground. An orange-brick-coloured field decorated with scrollwork of fine, crenellated stems twisted into bulbs and delicately drawn floral palmettes, adorned with polychrome serrated leaves
framing a large, multi-lobed central rosette with a multicoloured floral crown.
Four sky-blue spandrels featuring stylised floral bulbs.
Five borders, the main one being ivory with motifs reminiscent of the central field.
Remarkable finesse.
