Lithographic embroidery panel: antependium (altar front)
Italian Barochetto style (Genoa), equivalent to the French Louis XV style. Circa 1740–60
Intended for a major parish church or a castle chapel

Embroidery predominantly executed in needle-painting technique using overlapping stitches with multicoloured silk threads for the saint (probably Saint Teresa of Ávila or Saint Colette), the cherubs and the flowers, on a well-preserved original silk or satin ground. The central medallion, with its crenellated gilded wood frame, is adorned with the figure of Saint Teresa or Saint Colette and two cherubs against an ivory background featuring garlands of flowers and foliage finely rendered in polychrome.
Gold-coloured metallic threads can also be seen forming the rocaille patterns
