Michel Mallerot, Parisian cabinetmaker
Michel Mallerot (1675–1753) was a Parisian cabinetmaker who remains relatively little known, as do many cabinetmakers of the early 18th century. Pierre Verlet mentions him in the list of cabinetmakers in the second edition of his book: *18th-Century French Furniture*, published in 1982. Along with Sageot, Gaudreaux, Doirat, Lieutaud, Garnier and a few others, he was one of the first to apply a maker’s mark, using his simple initials in a broad style, as was often the case with early marks.
