Description
A portico clock in white marble and finely chiselled and gilded bronze. The circular body, surmounted by a helmeted warrior, is supported by two balusters with square bases, embellished with acanthus foliage and topped with antique-style vases. The whole rests on a rectangular plinth decorated with small finials, chains and a row of pearls. The dial is signed ‘Chatenay à Versailles’. French spring-driven movement.

The clockmaker ‘Chatenay à Versailles’ specialised in the 18th century in the manufacture of high-precision watches and clocks.
