A. BOCQUET (active in the 19th century), a follower of Alexandre DEFAUX (1826–1900) The Donkey in the Henhouse, 1863 Oil on canvas. Dimensions: H_46 cm W_56 cm Signed and dated lower right. Associated with the Barbizon School and particularly admired for his landscapes and rural scenes, Defaux was a pupil of Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot. His paintings focus on depictions of rural life, paths, farmyards and animals. He exhibited regularly at the Salon from the 1850s onwards, when he was awarded a gold medal at the 1900 World’s Fair Expert: Cabinet Artéon – Expert: Quentin BONNEFOY – Cabinet ARTÉON
