Description
Two mahogany armchairs in the Consulate or Empire style and period
Both have a straight backrest. One has sabre-shaped legs and crook-shaped armrests embellished with godrons, cartouches, palm leaves and foliage; the other has straight legs and armrests, discreetly adorned with palmette and fleur-de-lis motifs. The latter is stamped beneath the frame ‘S. BRIZARD’ for Sulpice BRIZARD (1733–after 1796), who was admitted as a master craftsman in Paris in 1862.
