A painter of Gabonese origin, Onewin trained at the Ecole Nationale d'Art et Manufacture in Libreville before going on to perfect his skills in Paris, first at the Met de Penninghen and Jacques d'Andon workshops, then at the Ecole Supérieure d'Art Graphique et d'Architecture. Onewin's inspiration draws on the roots of his own culture and feeds on the flow of mixed cultures in the global village. The result is a body of work that is both authentic and lyrical.
Authentic in its themes, its composition and its search for materials that combine or clash to create the work. Lyrical in its colour palette, which takes liberties and dares to use strong, bold colours: the blues are deep, the reds and yellows underline the compositions.
