A Spanish painter and illustrator born in Barcelona, he painted military subjects, orientalist compositions and urban landscapes. He trained with Ramon Marti and Alsina before perfecting his skills in Paris between 1886 and 1890, when he returned to Spain to settle in Seville.
Although he painted a few views of Paris during his stay, Obiols Delgado was strongly influenced by Baldomero Galofre and is best known for his paintings of military cavalrymen and views of Andalusia and Morocco.
