Description
ANDRE BIZETTE-LINDET (1906-1998) Kneeling Nude in Profile Large ink, charcoal and pastel drawing, signed lower right. Size: 75 x 54.5 cm - A French painter, draughtsman and sculptor born in Savenay, André Bizette-Lindet studied at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts and won the Grand Prix de Rome in sculpture in 1930 for his Javelin Thrower. He went to Rome for the Villa Médicis, then under the direction of Paul Landowski, from 1931 to 1935. His work included the figures on the bronze doors of the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris in 1937, the decoration of the French pavilion at the 1939-1940 New York International Fair and the French embassy in Ottawa in 1938. Appointed painter to the Navy, Bizette-Lindet designed one of the high-relief frescoes adorning the France combattante memorial on Mont Valérien in Suresnes.
