Born in Mantua, Pietro Bestetti is a multi-faceted Italian artist who is also a painter, sculptor, journalist, graphic designer and photographer. From an early age, he showed a strong artistic bent, which led him to study graphic arts in Milan and painting and frescoes at the Scuola Superiore d'Arte, also in Milan. With his friend Mancinelli, he founded a laboratory for artistic experimentation, where he experimented with engraving and sculpture techniques using materials such as stone, wood, bronze and photography.
His talent for watercolours, his highly personal style, incomparable in its sobriety and elegance, the refined technique of his compositions and his ability to describe financial problems at lightning speed, made him one of the leading exponents of contemporary graphic design.
