A French painter born in Chambéry, known for his chiaroscuro and night effects, his style is close to the Barbizon School and his work oscillates between landscapes, still lifes and intimate portraits. Cachoud studied with Benoît Molin before attending the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Appointed painter to the Ministry of the Navy, in 1901 he produced the decorative panels for the liner La Savoie, as well as advertising posters for the P.L.M. company.
