Description
Philippe HIQUILY (1925–2013) Sellette – 1959. Steel sculpture-seat with a rust-coloured patina. Signed and numbered 36/100 on the base. H: 114.5; W: 47; D: 44 cm. Note: Work designed in 1959 for Germaine Richier and produced during the artist’s lifetime in 2006. This stool was commissioned from Hiquily by Germaine Richier in 1959 for the exhibition of her lead sculptures at the Galerie Creuzevault. The commission of these pedestals, intended to showcase her own sculptures, also reflected this established artist’s desire to give the young sculptor a chance and to promote his work.
