Maria PERGAY (1930-2023) Wastepaper basket, model created in 1969 Folded stainless steel sheet, wooden base A few scratches, slight impact on the base 30 x 33 x 29 cm Provenance: collection of the American architect and decorator Constantin Vichey (1933-2026), then by descent Bibliography: Suzanne Demisch, Stéphane Danant, op. cit, a similar model reproduced on page 77 under reference O.84 This basket was acquired in New York in the early 1970s from Harvey Probber, Maria Pergay's distributor in the United States, for the decor that Constantin Vichey created for the flat of his father Luben Vichey and his mother-in-law Anna Vichey, on Fifth Avenue. When the couple died, Constantin Vichey brought the basket back to France, first to furnish a family home in the Gard region of France, then to his personal home in Bordeaux, where it remained until his death.
