Exhibitions: Exhibited at the Château de la Chassaigne in Thiers (12 June to 17 September 2017) Condition report: Framed Jean Aujame was a French painter and lithographer who trained in Rouen before settling in Paris in 1930. Following a period in Algeria and several trips around Europe, he developed a figurative body of work centred on the landscapes and villages of central France. Having been a prisoner of war, he subsequently settled in Sauvagnat-Sainte-Marthe, where he founded an artists’ community known as the ‘École de Sauvagnat’.
