Andy Warhol "Christmas Tree" (1957) Andy Warhol "Christmas Tree" (1957) Andy Warhol "Christmas Tree" (1957) colour offset lithograph on folded paper, 1957, with the stamp of the Estate of Andy Warhol and the Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, Inc, New York, on the reverse. The design was used for a Tiffany Christmas card and for the invitation to the “Golden Pictures Show” at the Bodley Gallery, New York, in 1957. Image/sheet size 32.7 x 49.5 cm. In 1957, Andy Warhol designed “Christmas Tree” for a Tiffany Christmas card and as an invitation to the “Golden Pictures Show” at the Bodley Gallery in New York. In addition to the usual Christmas motifs (thistles, stars and baubles), mythological and fashionable symbols such as a mermaid, a pearl necklace, shells and a shoe, as well as symbols of power and representation such as a bust and a crown, are incorporated into the Christmas tree design.
