Ottoman kalkan shield, probably Kurdistan,
17th century
Dome-shaped, consisting of a radial iron structure
attached by five square-headed rivets to a core of wooden rods
wrapped in polychrome textile. The back
covered in red fabric and fitted with a braided leather handle
