GOLD-INCREASED CAST IRON HELMET, Tibet or Mongolia, mid-Ming dynasty (1368-1644)
Conical in shape, decorated with two lotuses, a double vajra and a tri-ratna, the lower part with a right wall, decorated with two dragons chasing the flaming pearl, accompanied by an inscription mentioning "the helmet of Vajradhara" in Mandarin, Tibetan and Mongolian characters, the upper part openwork with two dragons facing each other framing a lotus flower on a foliage background, surmounted by a half-vajra ; The half-vajra has been glued back together, and the top part is missing.

A cast-iron helmet, inlaid with gold and dating from the 15th-16th century, is kept at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, under number 36.25.184.
Another helmet, with similar decoration on the upper part, dates from the Yuan dynasty and is in the Tibet Museum.
