Description
CHINA, Qianlong mark and period, 18th century Pair of porcelain bowls Mounted on short legs, the straight, high sides flaring at the opening, decorated with chrysanthemum flowers in the central part, the inner and outer sides lined with stylised foliage in diamond-shaped friezes, the edges of the legs adorned with stylised wave motifs. Six-character Qianlong markings in cobalt blue on the underside. Height: 6.5 cm Diameter: 11 cm (Chipped edges) Provenance: Collection of Mr P. Rinaldi (died 1966), an officer who carried out several military missions in China (Peking and Shanghai) and Indochina (Saigon) in the 1940s. Objects acquired locally during his visits as a lover of Asian art. By inheritance, private collection.
