Description
CHINA, 18th century Pair of porcelain candle-holders Taking the form of strangers seated on quadrangular thrones, dressed in important armours, and supporting bowls forming the supports of candles, the whole painted in famille rose enamels. Height: 22.7 cm Width: 9.5 cm (Misses and accidents) Provenance: Collection of the current owners' maternal grandmother, Mrs Leewitz, who lived in New York in the early 20th century. She travelled to Asia for about a year around 1930, during which time she acquired various objets d'art directly from Asia. Passed down through the generations.
