Rare ruyi sceptre
The head, in the form of a stylised lingzhi mushroom, has a gilt bronze medallion in the centre decorated with a chased relief depicting a five-clawed dragon. The border is decorated with Greek friezes. The rectangular central section and the end of the handle are embellished with gilt bronze repoussé panels, finely chased with five-clawed dragons moving among sacred mountains and waves. The handle is decorated on the outside with kui dragons in cartouches against a background of turquoise geometric friezes. The reverse side is decorated with precious objects, auspicious characters and lotus flowers.
