Large cinnabar lacquer snuffbox
Circular in shape, with a very fine deep incised decoration in the different layers of lacquer of the Eight Immortals moving within a lacustrine landscape, the neck and the domed cap with floral decoration.
Height: 9.5 cm
Width: 7 cm
Provenance: Collection of the current owners' maternal grandmother, Mrs Leewitz, who lived in New York in the early 20th century. She travelled to Asia for about a year around 1930, during which time she acquired various objets d'art directly from Asia. Passed down through the generations.
