CHINA, 19th century
Rare carved jade seal
Square in shape, the grip taking the form of two qilong treated in relief, crawling on the surface. The matrix bearing the four characters "為善最樂" (wéi shàn zuì lè, idiom meaning "To do good is the greatest joy") in the central part and surrounded by a decoration of stylised kui dragons chasing the sacred pearl. The celadon-coloured stone has grey and brown veins.
