Rare gilded copper alloy group
Representing the deities Chakrasamvara and Vajravarahi standing in alidhasana on a lotiform base, Chakrasamvara embracing his consort Vajravarahi, clinging to his neck and holding a cranial cup and a ritual cleaver. The goddess's legs encircle the divinity's waist, each of her feet resting on small figurative demons lying or imploring beneath them. The twelve arms of the divinity extend around the body, each holding symbolic attributes. The four-faced head is crowned with a crown adorned with skulls and rich decorative elements. The whole is sumptuously adorned with jewellery and a belt decorated with small skulls. Unsealed sculpture.
