Description
CAMBODIA, Khmer period in the Lopburi style, 13th century Bronze subject Representing the Buddha seated in padmasana position on a base in the form of a double-lotus, itself resting on a high stepped base, partially openwork with dancing figures in the middle section. The divinity is depicted in the gesture of taking the earth as witness. The face is serene, the eyes half-closed, the mouth slightly smiling, the head adorned with an elaborate tiara. The figure is backed by a large removable mandorla, architectural and partially openwork, richly decorated with foliage, floral motifs and stylised flames. The whole piece is covered with a light golden brown patina. Height: 21 cm Width: 8.5 cm H: 20 x W: 10 x D: 6 cm
