Description
CHINA, Qianlong mark An original trompe l'oeil porcelain vase, imitating bronze, based on archaic "Hu" type models, mounted on a circular foot, the globular body surmounted by a straight neck, flanked by two handles in the form of ruyi sceptres. The whole is covered in a green tea dust glaze with a gold splash effect and turquoise spots reminiscent of verdigris, and decorated in relief with Taotie masks, ruyi friezes and banana leaves. The lower part of the body and the neck are decorated with marbled brown enamels reminiscent of wood. An apocryphal Qianlong mark with four characters in cachet under the base.
