Description
CHINA, Qing Dynasty
A very elegant mirror, the handle consisting of a celadon jade fibula in the form of a kui dragon surmounted on the body by a smaller dragon crawling, the frame in silver presumed to be low-titled, chased and treated in repoussé, decorated with emblems and comprising a series of eight stones (jadeite, pink quartz, ruby) in cabochons. The back features a large oval celadon jade plate with a light relief carving of a digitized lemon, also known as the "Buddha's hand". The part connecting the mirror to the handle is decorated with a bat.
