*JAPAN, Meiji period An elegant pair of cloisonné vases of baluster form, with arched bases and high bulging shoulders, surmounted by short necks flared at the opening. Richly decorated with flowering branches populated by butterflies in flight, on a lavender background on the body, the neck showing phoenixes among clouds and archaic motifs, on a turquoise background.
