VIETNAM, Reign of Khai Dinh, early 20th century Rare "Kim Khanh" type medal in gold, two second class, taking the form of a lithophone stone presenting a chased and repoussé decoration of two dragons chasing the sacred pearl, framing the inscriptions "二項金磬" ( Nhị hạng kim khánh)" on one side, and "啟定勅賜"(Khải Định sắc tứà) on the other. With decorative tassel of coloured glass beads. In its original wooden case inscribed "二項金磬" ( Nhị hạng kim khánh) and "啟定年制" (Khải Định niên chế). 7.5 x 3.5 cm (excluding tassel) Gross weight: approx. 21 g (Damage to the upper part of the medal) Provenance: - Brought back by Jacques COGNE (1924-2023), non-commissioned officer in the 1st Marine Artillery Regiment seconded to the Hanoi meteorological service during the Indochina War, then by descent. - Collection from the South of France
