VIETNAM, 19th century Small carved and lacquered wood throne, resting on a rectangular stepped base, the slightly curved seat topped by a backrest framed by two lateral uprights forming armrests, joined by a crosspiece ending in chimera heads. The back is richly decorated in relief and painted in red and gold with foliage and auspicious characters in medallions above the waves.
