VIETNAM, Trinh Vân (born 1917) Elegant lacquer tray, quadrangular shape, the central part with a polychrome decoration representing a landscape of rice fields in North Vietnam. Signed "Trinh Van" and dated 1943 lower right. 5.5 x 60 x 32 cm (One of the handles is damaged and has a chip) The artist Trinh Van was a student in the 11th year of the painting section of the Indochina School of Fine Arts in Hanoi, between 1936 and 1941. Comparison: For a work by the same artist depicting the same subject, but on a folding screen format, see Christie's sale of 25 November 2018 in Hong Kong, under no. 354, and sold for €91,023 (with costs).
