Quadrangular in shape, with an openwork, repoussé lid, decorated with pavilions and Immortals in a boat. Bearing a ‘姑蘇’ seal and incised inscriptions indicating production in Suzhou, in the province of [province name], beneath the base.

Provenance: French family collection. The set is believed to have been brought back from Asia in the mid-20th century by a close family friend, known by the first name Marcel. The presence of a book dedicated by Michel Beurdeley to the aforementioned relative (1962) attests to his interest in the arts of the Far East. Passed down through the family to the current owners.
