Large copper brazier
Rectangular in shape, with an openwork lid decorated with floral friezes and circular motifs, flanked by a basket-handle. A Zhang Mingqi mark, ‘張鳴岐製’, incised in a line beneath the base.

Provenance: French family collection. The set is believed to have been brought back from Asia in the mid-20th century by a close relative of the family, known by the first name Marcel. The presence of a book dedicated to Marcel by Michel Beurdeley (1962) attests to his interest in the arts of the Far East. Passed down through the family to the current owners.
