Description
1915 Prussian spiked helmet. Patent-leather helmet showing numerous cracks, with grey-painted iron fittings; the rivets securing the spike base have been repainted black and the base of the spike has been widened. The Prussian eagle badge is loose, as is the rim. A fine black leather liner with nine ‘wolf’ teeth and a rear drawstring, probably from a Second World War helmet. Several stamps on the underside of the helmet, including that of the manufacturer Gustav Reinhardt in Berlin, the date 1915, size 54, and that of the 2nd Army Corps’ war clothing store (KBA II). Condition II+.
