Description
RASTRELLI Carlo Bartolomeo (1675-1744) [after the model of] Portrait in profile of the Empress Elisabeth Petrovna (1709-1761). After 1743. Plaster bas-relief, illuminated. Height: 55.0 cm. Width: 47.5 cm Minor chips to the plaster at the top of the frame and on the back of the portrait. The Empress of Russia is depicted in an ermine coat, wearing the small imperial crown and the ribbon of the Order of Saint Andrew. Our portrait is based on the medallion of Elisabeth Petrovna in lead by Carlo Bartolomeo Rastrelli (1743). A similar portrait is in the National Historical Museum in Moscow.
