Description
EMPEROR ALEXANDER II OF RUSSIA. A commemorative flared cylindrical metal goblet with applied copper decoration depicting trophies of arms and centred on a large Rocaille-style double-headed eagle medallion with floral decoration depicting a double left-profile portrait of Emperor Alexander II and his wife Maria Alexandrovna in imperial crown. Work from the second half of the 19th century, with an illegible signature on the reverse of the foot. Height: 12 cm. Diameter: 10.5 cm (Minor knocks). History: This may have been a commemorative goblet for the coronation of the Emperor and Empress in August/September 1856.
