Note
Maurice Busset was the author of a book entitled "Gergovia, capitale des Gaules et l'oppidum du plateau des Côtes" published in 1933 by Librairie Delagrave in Paris. He is well known for being one of the first to defend the idea that the Chanturgue and Côtes de Clermont sites, to the north of the town of Clermont-Ferrand, were the true location of the battle of Gergovia, a thesis supported after him by Paul Eychart. It is rejected by the majority of historians and archaeologists and contradicted by the latest research carried out on the Merdogne-Gergovie site, to the south of the town.
