This version first appeared in a photo album belonging to a member of the Weeks family who visited the new Watanabe Color Print Company in 1910 and bought at least 30 copies of their woodblock prints.
So this is a pre-earthquake 1923 version of Kantô. Shotei then reproduced a third of its pre-earthquake production from 1936 onwards. In the post-earthquake version, the woman is alone carrying the bundle of wood, a more common composition.
