Flintlock reward rifle model 1817 "Donné par le ROI au Sieur Pierre Legeai". Unmarked round barrel with thunderbolt. Lock signed "Manuf Royale de Versailles", hallmarked "G" under star in a rectangle. Silver plated brass fittings hallmarked "H". Front of trigger guard and back of butt plate cut with fleur-de-lys. Silver thumbpiece with the Great Arms of France marked "VIVE LE ROI". Walnut stock hallmarked "JD" with silver plate engraved "Donné par le ROI au Sr Legeai Pierre". Iron ramrod. Bears a collector's label stamped "T28". Barrel length: 103 cm - Overall length: 143 cm A.B.E. (one counterplate screw changed, pitting on the lock). With a bayonet with median ferrule and blade stamped "D.L". Length : 44,5 cm A.B.E. Bears a collector's label stamped "T28". Pierre Legeai, farmer at Larjeasse (Deux-Sèvres). 4th corps of the army of the west, Captain in the division of Bressuire. Provenance : Drouot sale of 22 January 1934, lot 128.
