Checkered ebony hilt, brass mounting, hilt with one branch and two shuttle-shaped pommels, curved quillon, curved blade with flat back, counter-edge and hollow sides, engraved on one side with a three-masted ship, Neptune and radiant sun with the numeral "N" surmounted by a fame, on the other side with military attributes of a maritime landscape, clouds and a coat of arms engraved "N: E:de F:" (Napoleon Emperor of the French) surmounted by a cherub.
