As a reminder, Category D-1 was abolished on 1 August 2018. Firearms in this category are now classified as Category C firearms subject to registration.
To purchase Category C firearms subject to registration, the purchaser must provide proof of identity and a valid hunting licence for the current year (or the previous year), or a valid shooting licence (or one from the previous year).
Category C firearms will only be issued following a check against the FINIADA register (National Register of Persons Prohibited from Acquiring and Possessing Firearms). If the purchaser of a Category C firearm is listed on the FINIADA register, the sale will automatically be deemed void.
The purchaser must sign the digital police register and a CERFA form must be completed.
Since February 2022, purchasers of Category C rifles must hold a SIA account; please ensure you have this in place before bidding.
