In the catalogue raisonné of Anna Boch by Madame Thérèse Thomas, at the end of the book, mention is made of a number of works not formally identified but which formed part of either the inventory of 24 April 1936 or the sale after death of 15 December 1936 by Maître Maurice Gérard, Galerie Le Roy, Brussels.
"When Anna Boch took part in the Salon des XX for the first time in 1886, she sold her work. That same year, Anna Boch met a young artist 14 years her junior. This artist, a key figure among the founders of the XX, was none other than Théo van Rysselberghe. Anna Boch quickly came under the influence of this brilliant representative of the avant-garde. After her meeting with Rysselberghe, Anna Boch lightened her palette still further. She achieved greater fluidity between the chromatic masses through the division of tones and the effects of ambient light.
Born in France, Neo-Impressionism was enthusiastically adopted by many Belgian painters. Théo van Rysselberghe was undoubtedly its most faithful follower. At the time when Anna became his disciple and frequented his studio, it was still little known. In painting, as in music, she had the gift of discovering the masters before their consecration.
She approached him with confidence. The fascination with light that characterised painting at the time led Anna Boch down a new path [...]".
