Bernard BUFFET (1928–1999) Hôtel de la mer – 1992. Coloured pencils on paper. Signed and stamped with the artist’s signature in Chinese characters in the bottom right-hand corner. Inscribed in the bottom left-hand corner. Titled and bearing the Garnier Archives number on the reverse. 50 x 65 cm. This work is listed in the Archives of the Galerie Maurice Garnier. Note: Study for the colour engraving produced in 1992. In 1964, Bernard Buffet bought a villa in the village of Saint-Cast, in Brittany, where he used to spend his holidays as a child. Alternating his stays between Brittany and Paris until 1970, the seaside resort inspired many of his works.
