This watercolour is taken from the book *Les 1001 nuits* by Madrus (Dr JC), Hassan Badreddine El Bassraoui, Paris, Éditions de la Sirène, 1918. Provenance: Private collection, France. In the background on the right, we can see the subject of this painting featured in the artist’s important work ‘The Flowered Bowl and Countess Cassati’ from 1917, which is held at the Musée d’Art Moderne in Paris.
