A rectangular box with rounded sides, made of mahogany and amaranth veneer. Decorated with chiselled and gilded bronze elements, such as frames for water-leaf friezes, rows of pearls, cascading acanthus leaves and small spindle-shaped feet. Marked ‘Adam WEISWEILLER’, who was admitted as a Master in 1778, and bearing the hallmark of the Carpenters’ and Cabinetmakers’ Guild (JME) beneath the base. Louis XVI period.
