Bruno Romeda is an Italian sculptor whose work is primarily based on bronze and the use of simple geometric shapes – circles, squares, triangles, broken lines or polygonal structures. His work is characterised by a very pronounced economy of means: the sculpture is often conceived as an open construction, where line, balance and void play an essential role.
Our sculpture echoes this exploration of geometry, yet distinguishes itself through the presence of a solid vertical element that breaks with the extreme void found in the majority of his works. The linear structure, resembling a distorted frame, is here traversed by a solid vertical element, which introduces a central mass and significantly alters the overall impression. This contrast between the open framework and the solid section gives this work a more architectural presence, at once stable and off-centre; it combines the lightness of a linear structure with a more assertive central mass.
