Description
Jean Degottex (1918–1988) Métasphère incisé III, 15 April 1966 Indian ink and pigments on embossed card Signed and dated lower right 64 x 49.5 cm Provenance: Collection of Paul and Jacqueline Canfrère Bibliography: This work will be included in the Catalogue Raisonné of the artist’s work, currently being prepared by Mr Dominique Bollinger. A certificate of inclusion in the Catalogue Raisonné from the Jean Degottex Committee, chaired by Mr Bollinger, will be issued to the purchaser. Note: On the evening of 22 April 1966, Degottex had an experience that would leave a lasting impression on him: two balls of fire streaked across the sky before disintegrating into a white trail. ‘Les Métasphères’ had been created before this event, but it is likely that it was this event that ultimately determined the circular form.
